2005-06 in English football

The 2005-2006 season will be the 134th competitive season in English football.

Overview

The rebuilt Wembley Stadium is due to open. It should be ready for the FA Cup final in May.

Two clubs in The Football League are scheduled to open new grounds this season:

FC United of Manchester, formed by disgruntled Manchester United fans, will play their first competitive season, competing in the North West Counties Football League Division Two (Level 10 of the English football league system).

National team

England will continue their qualifying campaign for the Football World Cup 2006, playing alongside fellow UK teams Wales and Northern Ireland in the European Group 6.
