Dune Acres is a town located in Porter County, Indiana. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 213.

Geography

Dune Acres is located at 41°38'47" North, 87°5'6" West (41.646416, -87.084905)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 9.1 km² (3.5 mi²). 5.5 km² (2.1 mi²) of it is land and 3.6 km² (1.4 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 39.20% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 213 people, 101 households, and 76 families residing in the town. The population density is 38.4/km² (99.7/mi²). There are 154 housing units at an average density of 27.8/km² (72.0/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 99.06% White, 0.00% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.94% from two or more races. 1.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 101 households out of which 13.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 67.3% are married couples living together, 5.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.8% are non-families. 20.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.11 and the average family size is 2.39.

In the town the population is spread out with 11.7% under the age of 18, 3.3% from 18 to 24, 13.1% from 25 to 44, 33.8% from 45 to 64, and 38.0% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 60 years. For every 100 females there are 104.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.9 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $94,843, and the median income for a family is $102,524. Males have a median income of $83,632 versus $41,250 for females. The per capita income for the town is $68,051. 0.0% of the population and 0.0% of families are below the poverty line.
