Selling England by the Pound (1973) is the fifth studio album by the progressive rock band Genesis, not counting Genesis Live, which appeared a few months ahead of this release.

It followed Foxtrot and was the band's commercial peak with Peter Gabriel, hitting # 3 in the UK and it remains a 1970's hallmark album. Songs such as "Firth of Fifth" and "The Cinema Show" are considered classics, and the shorter track "I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)" became Genesis' first single to receive any sort of chart action (hitting #17 in the UK in April 1974). Many Genesis fans list this as their favourite of the band's Gabriel-era studio albums - and with good reason. You can hear the beginnings of their later penchant for arena rock in some of the cuts, particularly with the song "The Cinema Show".
